Violin, Viola and Cello Lessons - Stevens Point Wisconsin
Violin, viola and cello lessons are offered in Stevens Point weekly in 30, 45 and 60 minute lessons. Most beginners take 30 minute lessons. Most of our string faculty are Suzuki trained and able to combine this approach with traditional methods, including Essential Elements. All of our string teachers are classically trained, but also able to teach fiddling and pop music to their students. Students trained in school orchestra programs can supplement their lessons there with personalized private instruction to stand out from the crowd at their school!

Q. What will I learn in violin, viola and cello lessons?
A. Instruments of the violin family have captivated listeners for hundreds of years and continue to do so today. The first thing you will learn is how to make a beautiful sound. This takes a fair amount of commitment as it is more challenging than simply sitting at a piano and striking a key. Once you can make a consistently pleasing tone, you will start playing simple songs, and eventually work your way up to more intricate classical pieces and fiddle tunes if that is your goal.
Q. Do I need to buy a violin, viola or cello?
A. Many students come with instruments already. If you have one, go ahead and bring it. If you don't have one, don't worry! In fact, we recommend you have your first lesson before acquiring your instrument. The reason for this is that violins, violas and cellos come in many different sizes and you will make the most progress and play most easily on the right size for you, which your teacher will help you figure out at your first lesson.
Q. Can I rent a violin, viola or cello instead of buying one?
A. Yes! If you register for lessons with the Stevens Point School of Performing Arts, we will connect you with one of the very best string instrument rental programs in the country, providing the best instruments for the lowest prices we have ever found. Our students love to work with this rental company and they will ship your instrument right to your front door.
